Pikey Peak (4,065 m) offers amazing sunrise views of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, and other high mountains. The trek also provides views of surrounding hills, valleys, and remote landscapes, giving a sense of peace and isolation.

The route passes through traditional Sherpa and Tamang villages in the lower Everest region, where life is simple and strongly influenced by Buddhism. Along the way, notable monasteries such as Thupten Chholing Gumba and Jhapre Gumba can be visited, along with prayer flags, mani walls, and chortens. Two other viewpoints, Thala Danda and Chagesthan, offer incredible panoramic views of the Everest region.

The trail goes through rhododendron forests, terraced fields, open hills, and high pastures, showing different scenery each day. FAQs

1What kind of accommodation is available during the trek?
You'll stay in basic teahouses or homestays run by local families. Facilities are simple but cozy and you’ll experience authentic Sherpa and Tamang hospitality.
2Is Pikey Peak good for a short Himalayan experience?
Absolutely. It’s one of the best off-the-beaten-path treks for those who want big views and deep cultural immersion without the crowds or long durations.
3Why we start from Phaplu ? Why not from Dhap ?
Many trekkers prefer to start the Pikey Peak trek from Phaplu rather than Dhap. The ascent from Phaplu is more gradual, making it easier to acclimatise and enjoy the trek. Phaplu sits at a lower elevation (around 2,470 m) compared to Dhap (2,800-2,900 m), allowing a safer and more comfortable adjustment to the altitude.
4How difficult is the Pikey Peak Trek?
It’s a moderate trek, suitable for beginners with decent fitness. The trails are well-defined and the highest point is Pikey Peak (4,065 m), which may cause mild altitude symptoms, but it's less challenging than other high-altitude treks in Nepal.
5How many days does the trek take?
Most itineraries range from 6 to 9 days, depending on your route, acclimatization pace and starting/ending points. It can be customized based on time and fitness level.
6What makes Pikey Peak special compared to other treks?
The sunrise view from Pikey Peak offers a panoramic Himalayan range, including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu and Annapurna. It’s also far less crowded than popular routes like Everest Base Camp. Also Sherpa Cultural Tour and the real life of Sherpa people.
