The journey starts in Kathmandu with a drive or scenic flight to Pokhara, followed by a trip to Kande or Dhampus - charming villages near Pokhara. From here, the route passes through tranquil Gurung and Magar villages, terraced farmland, and vibrant rhododendron and tropical forests, offering a true immersion in local life and nature.

From Badal Danda, the trail runs along a ridge between two valleys, above the tree line, creating the feeling of walking on a natural balcony with Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna I as an incredible backdrop. Continuing to High Camp, the trail traverses rocky alpine terrain with panoramic views of towering mountains and deep valleys, showcasing the full rewards of high-altitude exploration.

The journey culminates at Mardi Himal Base Camp or View Point, where dramatic, sweeping vistas include Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Lamjung Himal. Suitable for both beginners and those with moderate fitness, this trail offers a safe, well-paced, and unforgettable experience through one of Nepal’s most remarkable regions.

    Dudh Karka - low camp (3,000 m)

    Today, the day is quite challenging, so be sure to have the right gear. From Dudh Kharka, the trail gently climbs through pastures with herder huts and grazing yaks. It then rises through rhododendron and oak forests, with some clearings giving views of Annapurna South and Machapuchhre (Fishtail). Small streams and mossy paths make the walk peaceful. As the forest thins, the trail opens into alpine meadows with wide, beautiful views. We end the day at Low Camp, a quiet and scenic spot, one of the highlights of the Mardi Himal Trek.

    Low Camp - High Camp (3,640m)

    Today is a short but steep climb through rhododendron and juniper forests. The trail gradually rises above the tree line, opening up views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchhre, and the Annapurna range. As you gain height, the vegetation becomes sparse and alpine. A few teahouses along the way provide opportunities to rest and have refreshments. After 2-3 hours of climbing, we reach High Camp, a ridge with stunning mountain views - an ideal place to acclimatise before continuing to Mardi Himal Base Camp.

    High Camp - Upper View Point (4200m) - Badal Danda (3210m)

    Start your day early to catch the magnificent sunrise from the Upper View Point. After/Before breakfast, we follow a narrow ridge trail with stunning views of Machapuchhre and the Annapurna range. After about two hours, we reach the viewpoint to enjoy the sunrise. The trail then continues along a rocky path for another 1-1.5 hours to Mardi Himal Base Camp. After taking in the views, we return to High Camp, then descend steeply through alpine grasslands and rhododendron forests to reach Badal Danda (3,268 m), a scenic ridge overlooking valleys often filled with clouds.

    Badal Dada - Kalimati (1809m) - Drive to Pokhara

    After breakfast, we descend from Badal Danda, retracing most of the trail, and continue to Sidhing, a village offering a glimpse of traditional life. From Sidhing, we take a jeep to Pokhara. This is a great chance to explore the beautiful city and enjoy views of the Himalayan ranges from lakeside cafés and bars. If time allows, you can also enjoy boating on the calm lake, where the water reflects the stunning Fishtail Mountain.

    Transport : 2/3 hours  jeep (Pokhara)
    Elevation gain: 100 m. Elevation loss: 1200m. 4/5 hours walking.

    Pokhara - Flight to Kathmandu

    From Pokhara, we take a scenic flight back to Kathmandu, enjoying aerial views of the Himalayan ranges and the stunning landscapes below.

    Flight Pokhara - Drive Kande (1,770m) - Pothana (1,890m)

    After a scenic 25-minute flight, you arrive at Pokhara International Airport. A private car then transfers you to Kande. Between Kande and Pothana, the route passes through a short but attractive section of the Annapurna region, featuring woodland paths, stone steps, and stunning mountain views. We stop briefly in the beautiful Gurung village before beginning our trek to Pothana.

    Accommodation: lodge. Meals included: morning afternoon evening.
    Transport : 25 mins flight (Pokhara), 40 minutes of drive (Kande).  
    Elevation gain : 460m. Elevation loss : 340m.  2 hours walking.

    Pothana - Dudh Karka (2525m)

    Today we trek along peaceful forest trails and remote hillside paths. From Pothana, the trail gently climbs through rhododendron and oak forests to Deurali. From here, we leave the Annapurna Base Camp route, moving away from the main tourist trail into a quieter, more secluded area. After approximately four hours of walking in this pleasant environment, including a short climb, we reach our camp.

    Elevation gain: 680 m. Elevation loss: 180m.  5 hours walking.
