WORK FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Nepal’s trekking and mountaineering industry has traditionally been dominated by men, with women often overlooked, excluded from opportunities, or underpaid for their work. This imbalance not only limits women’s potential but also prevents the industry from benefiting from their skills, knowledge, and leadership.

At Lhakpa Trekking, co-founded by professional female guide Lhakpa Sherpa, we are committed to changing this reality. We actively train and employ women as guides and porters, ensuring they receive equal pay and fair treatment. Beyond employment, we organise women-led treks that highlight female leadership in the mountains, support female-run lodges and local businesses, and provide skill-building and professional development for women in tourism and mountaineering.

Our mission is to foster a trekking and climbing industry where women are not only included but empowered to grow, thrive, and take on leadership roles - helping to shape a more equitable and inspiring future for Himalayan tourism.
